Football season is on its way!!!!

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

20080325aab.jpg

As reported by Hokiesports.com, spring practice will begin on Wednesday for the Hokie football team.  It will be interesting to see what positions will be filled after a mass exodus of seniors leaving the team from this past season.  Several neat changes will also occur, such as Victor Harris seeing some time as flanker on offense before taking over Brandon Flowers spot at the boundary corner.  Ed Wang will also move from right tackle to left tackle.  As Coach Beamer and the rest of Hokie Nation knows; we are a young team this year.  “It is going to be interesting to see how quickly this talent can come along and play at a successful level,” Coach Beamer states.

In regards to basketball news, another 3,000 tickets were donated to the student body by Seth Greenberg and the other alumni donors.  These free tickets were snatched up in a period of 4 hours on Tuesday as the bball team is getting ready to take on Ole Miss in the 3rd round of the NIT Tournament on Wednesday night in Cassell Coliseum.  Tipoff is at 7 PM with TV coverage on ESPN2.  LETS GO! HOKIES!

Hokies beat UAB 75-49!!!

Monday, March 24th, 2008

air_hokiebird.gif

The Hokies bball team beat the UAB Blazers on Monday night in the Cassell by a score of 75-49.  The second round NIT win promotes the Hokies onto the third round and having a third game against Ole Miss on Wednesday night.  The game will be in Blacksburg again and will be televised on ESPN2 with a tipoff at 7 PM.

From this Hokie’s viewpoint from the stands, the Hokies fought very hard to battle against the Blazers.  The Hokies were able to keep at least a ten-point lead throughout the game and hold on to it.  The Blazers tried at times to ignite a spark, but weren’t able to overcome the outrageous bursts of energy that the Hokies provided on the court.

By the way, UAB coach Mike Davis, former coach of Indiana, was a sore loser.  From getting a technical to constantly yelling at the referrees, Davis exemplified what it must be like to be a Blazer.  Oh yeah…he also left the court at the end of the game and did not speak to Greenberg or shake any hands….What an a$$!

See you Wednesday night in the Cassell!

Hokies beat Morgan State 94-62…Ore has left football team

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

The Hokies bball team beat the Morgan State Bears on Wednesday night in Cassell Colisem with a score of 94-62. The Hokies played to a packed house in the first round of the NIT Tournament. I believe that the Hokies will again play this following Monday. LETS GO! HOKIES!

In Hokie football news, it was reported today that Branden Ore will no longer be on the football team. There was not many comments by Beamer or any of the coaches about this. But we all know that Ore has been more of a liability than an asset in recent memory. From his lackluster performances on the field, showing up late for meetings, his alleged involvement with a drug dealer, and being out of shape; I can say as a Hokie fan that I am not upset with this decision. As Beamer noted, I also wish Ore well in the future.  (Refer to Jayski’s comments regarding Ore on January 16 & 18.)

Next up tomorrow…more coverage of the NIT Tournament.

The New York Yankees baseball team arrived in Blacksburg this morning at around 11:45 in front of Burruss Hall to greet students and other V.I.P.’s. The Yankees arrived in a police escort from their flight from Tampa to Roanoke. The Yankees gathered around the April 16th memorial and listened to President Steger say some words about this important and awesome day that they are a part of. The full team traveled to Blacksburg today, including Johnny Damon, Derek Jeter, Jason Giambi, Alex Rodriguez, and Jorge Posada. Their day is pack full with batting practice and other ceremonies before first pitch around 3 PM today.

Here are some pictures from today’s visit of the Yankees.

The Hokies bball team will be playing against Morgan State on Wednesday night at 7 PM in the first round of the NIT Tournament.  TV coverage will be brought to you by ESPN Classic.

Seth Greenberg has announced that he and other donors have purchased 3,000 tickets to donate to the student body.  Students may pick these tickets up tomorrow from 9-3, as they are first come-first serve.  If not, I still believe that students can purchase tickets for $5 and seating is general admission for the game against Morgan State.

Next up tomorrow….The Hokies baseball team take on the New York Yankees in Blacksburg.

To our adoring fans,

While we are saddened to hear the Spitzer name being tarnished on the national news everyday, we do not support the actions that Governor Eliot Spitzer took.  At this time, we deny any participation with Mr. Eliot Spitzer, as our activities pretty much only include Virginia Tech, tailgating, and Virginia Tech tailgating.  Prostitution is not in our vocabulary.

The webmaster and all other related parties to SpitzerTailgate.com wish to move on in this matter.  Thank you and have a good weekend.

Always your webmaster,

Jayski
