Cheating Seminoles?

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

A cheating scandal at FSU?  Thats what the popular media has been portraying recently of Bowden and his no-show Seminoles.  The range that Bowden stated could be up to 25 of his players not being able to play against Kentucky in the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl on New Year’s Eve.  He has also stated that nobody that was redshirted this year would be playing as a substitute for the ineligible players.  So, of course, the year that Frank and VT finally beat the ‘Noles, something like this comes up to play.  It will be something to see the impact of it on the bowl game….hold on, I hope I picked Kentucky.

Track presidents make friendly Orange Bowl bet

Monday, December 17th, 2007

Excerpt from SceneDaily.com:

“The presidents of Richmond International Raceway and Kansas Speedway have a good-natured wager on the upcoming Orange Bowl, which will feature Virginia Tech and Kansas University.  Richmond President Doug Fritz is an alum of Virginia Tech, while Kansas President Jeff Boerger is an alum of Kansas.  Fritz has agreed to send the entire Kansas Speedway staff Virginia hams and Virginia peanuts if his Hokies fall to the Jayhawks. If Virginia Tech wins, Boerger has agreed to bestow Kansas City strip steaks and sunflower seeds to the Richmond staff.  “Although I would like to introduce two very tasty Virginia products to the employees at Kansas Speedway, I would much rather taste victory over the Jayhawks when my beloved Hokies reign supreme at the Orange Bowl,” Fritz said in a news release. “I will be watching my good friend Coach Frank Beamer and his team closely from the stands, and I look forward to returning to Richmond to hand out the strip steaks and sunflower seeds to all of the employees at Richmond International Raceway. Go, Hokies.” Fritz is a 1981 graduate of Virginia Tech, while Boerger is a 1988 graduate of Kansas.

“The Virginia hams will taste extremely good after I watch my Jayhawks beat the Hokies of Virginia Tech,” Boerger said. “Coach Mark Mangino and his staff have done a great job this year, and it’s been exciting to watch KU get recognized for all of their hard work. Several staff members at Kansas Speedway are KU graduates, and we’ll all be pulling for the Jayhawks to beat the Hokies.”"

Billy Gibbons, Frank Beard, and Dusty Hill will be gracing us with their presence for pre and halftime shows at the Orange Bowl.  With such long beards and great songs such as “La Grange”, “Tush”, and “Legs”; we all will be having a good time with these near 60 year olds.  I bet they can still get around better than most of us, and hard to tell what kind of girls follow them also…

ACC Championship moved to Tampa Bay & Charlotte!

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

No more Jacksonville for the ACC Championship!  ACC Committee has awarded the championship game to Tampa Bay for the years of 2008/2009 and to Charlotte for the years of 2010/2011.  Non-Floridian Hokies will now be forced to drive another 3 hours or so from Jacksonville to Tampa Bay for two years, if the Hokies end up fighting for the trophy again.  As a Hokie that attended this year’s ACC Championship, one could understand about moving it away from Jacksonville.  The stadium was empty, as it also was for the previous two years, and another site could definitely give the championship game some much needed spark.
