SpitzerTailgate.com will be heading to Blacksburg this coming weekend for the annual spring game. Kickoff is at 2 pm in Lane Stadium.
SpitzerTailgate will be tailgating in the Cassell Coliseum Lot starting around 9 am until kickoff. We will set up our compound across from the Merryman Center. Look out for the Toyota Tacoma, a.k.a. the “Golden Hokie”, and our tent, etc. GO HOKIES!
SpitzerTailgate will be heading south for the spring race weekend at the Martinsville Speedway. SpitzerTailgate’s campsite/weekend compound will be set up on Friday morning, then the crew will be able to partake in Sprint Cup Series practices & qualifying. Saturday begins with more Cup practices, along with the Camping World Truck Series race. Sunday brings the Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500.
This will be the fourth year of us attending the spring race weekend at Martinsville. You can catch us at B&D Campsites! See ya at the track!

SpitzerTailgate will be in Blacksburg this weekend for the Homecoming game against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. This weekend will not really be about the game…but more about re-connecting with the town and its people that gave all of us 4 (sometimes 5) good years of life. Yes…as they all say…those were the best years of our lives.
If you’re in Blacksburg…stop by the Duck Pond Lot and hang out with us! Play some cornhole, toss the football, participate in some communion, and talk with your fellow Hokies. Who knows what will ever happen at a SpitzerTailgate…I sure don’t. Some of our best tailgates are in our future…and there’s no reason for any of us to shut the door on how dynamic they can be. Somebody should bring their grandma to the tailgate this weekend…that’s what I want to see happen. After that…bring whomever. I’ll talk to your grandpa, too.
From time to time, SpitzerTailgate.com gets random emails and messages from fellow tailgating sites; whether it be for college or professional teams, or websites such as TheTailgater.com. I was recently contacted by the BIG RED MEAT WAGON, a tailgating group for the Nebraska Cornhuskers; our opponent for this coming weekend. The BIG RED MEAT WAGON is characterized by a couple of things. For one thing…their unique vehicle stands out in my mind…a red and white ambulance, more commonly known as THE WAGON. With the tailgates that are centered around the ambulance, one can also receive a “one and only stretcher shot”….yes this involves laying on a stretcher and taking a shot through an IV tube. What more could you ask for??? This Hokie is speechless…about the tailgate, that is.
I say good luck to the Cornhuskers of the BIG RED MEAT WAGON this coming weekend when the Hokies come to Lincoln, Nebraska. SpitzerTailgate.com will not be in attendance, but it’s great to see that other colleges throughout the country also have a love for football and also…the ever-revolving and changing world of TAILGATING!!!
