I really hate to post a picture like that, but when I think of Boston College, my mind reverts back to that rainy night in Blacksburg in 2007.  In all of my time of seeing games in Lane Stadium, I had never heard the stadium that loud.  What was a matchup of two Top 5 teams ended up being a heartbreaker for the Hokies.  Anyhow…let’s not dwell on that game or even last year’s regular season game.  We have ended up losing to BC during the regular season, but have beat them in the ACC Title game each year.  It’s important to win when it counts…I suppose.

In terms of SpitzerTailgate for the BC Homecoming weekend, the tailgate will start roughly at 8 am at our usual tailgate location on 205 Kent Street.  Breakfast items are on the menu, due to the early kickoff.  If the chef feels hungry and people start griping, a light lunch entree may also be prepared.  Hope to see everybody there! When you see a score of 16-15, one must assume it was a hard-fought battle between both team’s offenses & defenses.  That would be true with the VT-Nebraska game from this previous Saturday.  It is pretty tough to sum up what exactly happened in Lane on that cloudy Saturday.  There was no doubt an anxiousness in most Hokie’s minds during the morning of the game, whether they were tailgating or just waking up from their small dormitory rooms.  If you did not see the game live, don’t re-watch the entire game…there was only two plays that mattered, and they both occured in the last 2 minutes of the game.  I would love to say that this weekend’s outcome against Miami won’t come to the last 2 minutes, but I’m not too sure about that.

In terms of SpitzerTailgate, we enjoyed a glorious weekend with our 2 RV’s.  We were directed to the 1st & Main development on South Main Street, after the Airport Lot was full Friday evening.  This ended up being a better location, with its proximity to downtown establishments and grocery stores.  I believe I’m still recuperating from the weekend…it was that great of a time.

Marshall weekend in Blacksburg was great with plenty of Hokies at the tailgate….pics to follow soon!

This weekend, SpitzerTailgate will be tailgating with 2 RV’s in the Airport Lot in Blacksburg; off of Tech Center Drive.  Come on by…we’ll be in town Friday evening to start the Nebraska weekend!

Forget last weekends result against the CrimsonTide….we finally get a REAL home game in Blacksburg.  This weekend, we battle the Thundering Herd of Marshall.  This is by the far the easiest (well, maybe UVA) game we have on our schedule this year. And the month of September is looking more tough, after the recent win by Miami over Bowden & his Seminoles. If we come out with one win in the month of September, I will be happy…will that be a Marshall victory?

In terms of SpitzerTailgate, we will be arriving in Blacksburg on Saturday morning around the 9 o’clock hour.  You can find a map of our tailgate location on the main page of the site; 205 N. Kent Street, for those wondering.  Bring yourself and that’s it!  We’ll be discussing topics such as whether Brian Stinespring deserves to be re-hired for the 2010 season, and just how scary Bud Foster truly is.  

And oh yeah, by the way…be sure to grab yourself a cup of sangria when you stop by.  It’s a new SpitzerTailgate tradition!

SpitzerTailgate is proud to announce an improvement in their tailgate agenda for the VT v. Nebraska game in Blacksburg on September 19th.  Instead of the usual tailgate spot on Kent Street, SpitzerTailgate will be arriving in a fleet of two RV’s and will stay the weekend at the Airport Lot, with their fellow tailgating buddies, ClubhouseTailgate.com. Other than that, not much going on here…just counting down the days until VT football officially starts.  There are a couple of items left on the list to compile for the tailgates also.

SpitzerTailgate is currently planning on attending all…yes, ALL VT home games for the 2009 football season.  By not planning on going to the ‘Bama game in the ATL, SpitzerTailgate has been able to allocate all resources for the home season.
